The Boston Shamrocks are now accepting host family applications for the 2017-18 hockey season. In preparing for their 10th JWHL season Director of Hockey Operations Sean Fisher is searching for families willing to open their homes and host Shamrocks players.
The Shamrocks consist of some 40 high-school and post high school age players from across the United States, Canada and, at times, Europe. The goal of Shamrocks Hockey is to provide its athletes with the best education possible while teaching them the necessary skills and knowledge required to become an elite hockey player. Through the sport of hockey the Shamrocks teach its athletes teamwork, leadership, and respect while taking part in the experience of a lifetime.
Billet families play a vital role in the ultimate success of Shamrocks athletes. Billet families provide strong role models, authority figures and a supportive family environment that will make a significant difference in the lives of these young women who have left their families to pursue their dreams. The benefits derived by players from their billet families are truly immeasurable.
Billet families provide the player with her own room and furniture, nutritious meals and snacks, laundry and the general overall comforts of home. The player and her family are responsible for covering the costs of her own personal needs. In return host families receive a monthly stipend to help offset expenses or possibly a discount off their Shamrocks tuition.
